Share something without leaving a trail

Some things should be shared without anyone, including the site in the middle, learning more than they must.

What this site doesn’t learn

  • Not the content. Your secret is encrypted in your browser and the key never reaches the server.
  • Not who you are. There are no accounts, and we keep no per-secret access logs or IP history.
  • Not when you made it. The stored expiry time is rounded, so it can’t be turned back into a creation time.
  • Not your visit to anyone else. Every font, script and image comes from this site; no third party is contacted, and there are no cookies or analytics.

Works where you browse

shhnote.com works in Tor Browser at the “Safer” security level. At “Safest”, JavaScript is off, so pages still read normally but creating or opening a secret needs a lower level, and the page says so.

Worth knowing

The security page lists the honest caveats too: anyone with the full link can open a one-time secret, so treat the link as the secret, and close the tab when you’re done reading.

More use cases.

Try it — it takes ten seconds

Write something secret, get your one-time link, and see it disappear.
